A Food Safety Auditor is responsible for evaluating food production and handling processes to ensure compliance with food safety standards, regulations, and certification schemes. This role involves conducting on-site audits, identifying risks, verifying adherence to food safety management systems such as FSSC 22000 and BRC, and supporting organizations in maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. The auditor plays a critical role in safeguarding public health, ensuring regulatory compliance, and improving operational efficiency within the food industry.

Duties and Responsibilities
Food Safety and Management Systems Auditor
- Initiate, plan, and conduct on-site audit activities for food safety and quality certification programs.
- Perform audits in accordance with approved audit plans and timelines.
- Evaluate compliance with standards such as FSSC 22000, BRC, and other applicable regulations.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings professionally in line with company (CU) guidelines.
- Identify non-conformities, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in handling client claims, complaints, and appeals related to audit outcomes.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and maintain regular communication with certification bodies.
- Stay updated on developments, emerging risks, and legislative changes in food safety and quality systems.
- Participate in marketing and business development activities, including client engagement and service promotion.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Managing Director or Operations Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
- Certified Lead Auditor with experience in food safety standards such as FSSC22000 and/or BRC.
- Minimum of 5 years of cumulative experience in the food industry (Production, Quality Assurance, or Research & Development).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of food safety management systems and auditing principles.
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and interviewing skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to make independent, evidence-based decisions.
- Effective communication skills with a good command of the English language.
- Service-oriented mindset with a professional and ethical approach.
- Willingness to travel extensively for on-site audits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in specific sectors such as coconut, banana/fruit processing, or fisheries industries.
- Familiarity with international regulatory frameworks and certification schemes.
